The NMP Landscape The NMP theme is wide ranging and spreads into almost all key sectors. As a participant in NMP, there are a variety of sources of information, networks and partnering. The main areas of the NMP landscape are below. Please click on the links for further information on specific web sites. Understanding the European Commission and the Framework Programmes is essential. It is not only important to understand specific calls and related documents in detail, you also need to understand why key technologies and areas are important in NMP through a knowledge of the commission and their technology strategies. As you develop your collaboration and support strategy, further information and support can be available through a number of Knowledge Transfer Networks (KTNs) in the UK. There are several of relevance to the NMP sector, including underpinning technologies such as nanotechnologies (including the UK nanotechnology centres) and sector-oriented groups such as Aerospace. European Technology Platforms (ETPs) are now key groups which can act as good networking opportunities for companies as they look to build up strategic partnerships within Europe. There are now over 30 ETPs covering sectors and underpinning technologies. In addition, in many cases, Commission officials, take inputs from the ETPs when putting together Work Programmes. In the NMP space, there are a number of European-funded projects and groupings that already exist to enable networking and collaboration in a number of technology areas. Many are open to new membership, or run conferences and meetings that are open to external attendance. The majority of UK Regional Development Agencys (RDAs) and Devolved administrations (DAs) have key sectors and technologies within the NMP theme that each has a particular focus on. In this way, you may find additional assistance and support for your collaborative R&D strategy on a regional level. In all requests for further details, please email nmp@fp7uk.co.uk or contact the NMP helpline. |
